Craft Ideas for Toddlers

"Charlotte is a brand new mother. Like all moms, she wants to do the best she can for her child. Her friend (who is a child psychologist) suggests that she undertake a few craft and art activities with her toddler, to ensure his all-round development." Let's see all the activities that she undertook. You could try them out, as well.

Simple Crafts for Kids

Finger Painting
This one is a very popularly followed craft idea. This is because, there is very a little requirement and compulsion for precision. More so, it will give the toddler a chance to see how, colors interact with each other. It will give you a chance to see his creative side and his inclinations, as well. All you need to do is, hand him an art sheet and some paints. Then, you just let him have a colorful gala. You could join him if you like, but please make sure that you do not try to guide or correct him too much, while painting. Let the toddler create his own creative perception.

Collage
Collage is a great art and craft idea for your kids. It can really help them identify shapes and connections. Mind you, it could be a messy idea but it is a guarantee that your toddler will enjoy it. Start off with selecting easy shapes. You can start off with a flag or any simple shape. Gradually you can take it to toy shapes etc. This activity will create a lot of focus in the toddler and is also a great bonding activity. You will need to be there the entire time, as the toddler will be playing with glue. Let's face it. the last thing you need is glue all around your living room, right? In fact, this could be a great way for you, to get back to your creative side. Make the outline of the drawing yourself and teach the toddler how to fill it up.

Season's Greetings
Greeting cards are a great way of reaching out to your dear ones, on special occasions. So this year, instead of buying greeting cards, why don't you get your happy helper to make them for you. Be it Easter, Christmas, Halloween, Valentine's day or the chilly festival, just sit down with your toddler and start making greeting cards. You could guide him with the colors and designs that are appropriate for the occasion. More so, it will be a great gesture, it is a very personal greeting, truly, from the heart, right?

Wall Decoration
Wall decoration is a very bold idea and left to the discretion of the parents. You could paint the toddlers room (or the entire house, if you like) with chalkboard paint. This way the entire house is your toddler's canvas. There are several decorating ideas with chalkboard paint, that could not only help the toddler, but you as well. Once the chalkboard paint is applied, all you need is a good stock of chalks and your toddler can craft away.

There are many more craft ideas like pottery, pot painting and creative writing, that could really help the toddler. Nonetheless, those require expert guidance and a certain level of motor skills and developed creative thinking ability. So my suggestion would be to wait a little while and take up the craft ideas discussed above and then go for the advanced ideas. Further, nothing can work without requisite attention from the parents. So, try to make sure that you are around, when your toddler is doing these activities. This where I sign off! All the best!
